“That a singular event in Earth history 75,000 years ago caused human populations in the cradle of humankind to drop is not a tenable idea.”

Hey Mel, did you see that article about space shots of South America that are now able to view vast more of the Mayan (Nephites and Lamanites) cities and roads? There are now millions of more people that lived in those time periods and possible finally some Book of Mormon evidence. The restorations of all things time period we live in. :-)

Grasshopper DNA proves that the Israelites were not and could not have been the ancestors of Native Americans. Seriously, you should look that up. The ancestors of today's Native peoples crossed Beringia about 18,000 years before Joseph Smith was born, and their closest ancestors are in Asia, not the Middle East.

I know, if it contradicts the nonsense you were indoctrinated with it can't be true.... and yet it is.

The appropriate Mormon response is that the DNA of Native Americans and the DNA of Asians match because the Jaredites, a choose people of god, left the Tower of Babel and traveled across Asia to the Pacific Ocean. Once reaching the ocean the Jaredites traveled by specialized boats to the Americas.
